Lucie Pust was BORN on June 23, 1866 in Altstrelitz, Mecklenburg. She was the owner of a teaching institute for tailoring. In 1910 she married Johannes Pust, a marine machinist from Eberswalde, and lived in the city ever since. In 1922 her husband died in Wolgast. At last she lived, blinded, in a small room on the second floor of the old people’s home on the Drachenkopf. The home in Erich-Mühsam-Straße, then Donopstraße, still exists today. The payment of the nursing allowance was stopped, and the invalid woman had to be transferred to a Jewish work home near Beeskow. On October 28, 1942, Lucie Pust was DEPORTED to THERESIENSTADT with the so-called 68th old-age transport. In the official gazette for the city of Eberswalde it is noted, “Here she died or was Murdered on May 21, 1944.”[7]
